Marilyn Steppe, MD., MS.: Marilyn is a 2008 graduate of Downtown Yoga’s Advanced Studies/Teacher Training program. She has been practicing Yoga since 2000. In addition she is a practicing Family Practice Physician and holds a Masters degree in sports performance enhancement and sports injury prevention. She holds a black belt in Shaolin Kenpo Karate and currently studies the Japanese martial art, Aikido. This varied background allows Marilyn to approach the asana aspect of Yoga with a thorough understanding of the individuality of our bodies, centering, the importance and use of energy, and respect for all of these. She approaches internal Yoga with the same passion and teaches fellow Yoga travelers a compassionate blend of acceptance and detachment. She continues her studies with Kate Coughlin, and Yoko Yoshikawa at Piedmont Yoga in Oakland. She frequently attends retreats, conferences, and workshops to expand her own practice and teaching methods.
