Kate teaches yoga from the heart in the Iyengar and vinyasa tradition. Experience precision, detailed instruction, and individual attention with the joy of movement and self-discovery. Kate is the creator of Stanford University'sYoga program and a graduate of Erich Schiffmann'steacher's program. She currently studies with Donald Moyer in Berkeley. Kate is an Experience Registered500 hour Yoga Teacherwith Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500)
Kate was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She has 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Kate has traveled the world including visits to Morocco, Spain and Greece. During the 1970's Kate worked in Alaska on fishing boats and in crab processing plants. She also has lived on the island of Maui.
In 1985 Kate moved to California while working for Nordstroms. She met her future husband Jim, and they were married on May 17, 1987.
Kate taught at Stanford University from 1989 until 2000.
In 1990 Kate gave birth to twin girls - Haley and Casey. Haley is attending Cal Poly, majoring in Architecture. Casey is attending U.C. Santa Cruz.
Kate and her husband Jim opened Downtown Yoga in 2002 because there was no place to teach yoga in Pleasanton at the time.
Kate loves her Chai tea in the morning before class.
Kate teaches Tuesday through Saturday. Her teaching schedule is below. She teaches all levels of students - from beginners in the "Introduction to Yoga" series - to Advanced Teacher Trainings.
