Student Testimonials

I was amazed at how energized, yet relaxed, I felt after the class.  I was also amazed to feel many dormant muscles "wake up" the next morning, in a good way.  I craved more yoga. – Laura W.

I like the environment of the studio, calm, accepting and supportive.  I like the fact that there is not a defined spirituality there.  There is a respect for our individual journeys and I feel as comfortable there as a follower of Christ as someone else might feel on a different path. – Kim Marie T.

The spirit with which Kate conducted her classes made us all feel like she really cared for us and that our practice was important to our well being. The more I attended her classes the more I wanted to make sure I did not miss a class. – Ingrid K.

I attended my first class at Downtown Yoga with much hesitation; I had been out of practice and was nervous about what to expect.  I was pleasantly surprised at the ease I felt to practice at my pace and explore the subtleties of my body in different poses. – Kavita P.

I gave yoga a try never imagining that I would get so much out of it. It really is more than a work out.  It is a 90-minute vacation from my week! – Maryann F.

Before Yoga I was constantly shallow breathing and now I remember to breathe more deeply.  – Sharon M

My journey into yoga began in 2002 at a quant studio called Downtown Yoga.  I remember so clearly that day I arrived at the studio talking to Kate and explaining to her that I have never tried yoga, but I was willing to learn.  Not being into exercise, I was looking for something that I could dedicate myself to, just for me, that I can enjoy.  Eight years later I am still there.  I feel that I am a better person for it. – Laine K.

I had taken a Yoga class at my gym and actually had a flare up of an old injury.  The reason?  Poor, careless teaching.  But at Downtown Yoga the teaching is so thorough and careful and the teachers very qualified. – Kim Marie T.

You’d think after 65 years in the same body that I would know the best way to operate it. With my first “Introduction to Yoga” class in September 2008, I could feel a difference in my body.  I noticed that as I consciously tried to sit and walk “taller” that my body was more comfortable and I could actually walk long distances with less effort.  Since that first class my posture has steadily improved so that I am able to work efficiently all day long.  My yoga practice has given me the resources to keep me energized and working all day long and then prepares me for a good night’s sleep. – Ruth P.

Walking into Downtown Yoga is like visiting a friend.  Be it your first visit or 100th visit, you are warmly greeted and feel the instructor’s genuine interest to share, instruct and uplift.  I am eternally grateful to Kate and all the instructors at Downtown Yoga for their excellence in sharing their knowledge.  Yoga feels like the Feng-shui or Chi of exercise to me because it engages my mind and body simultaneously; the beguiling, gentle, fluidity of the movements result in a spent yet oh so satisfying workout mentally and physically and the lingering effects very impressive.   – DawnMarie G.

I love the way I feel when I do Yoga: strong, focused. challenged and calm.  I know I will always learn new things and improve on what I already know.  I have experienced wonderful healing of chronic injuries sustained during thirty years of Critical Care Nursing.  I feel stronger and less likely to hurt myself now. – Kim Marie T.

Half way through the beginner's yoga class and it has been such a surprise! A world of energy flows, and pushing and stretching in two directions at once. Nothing like the incense and mysticism I was vaguely expecting. No rote learning here, but a setting out of the basic principles - the space to learn and discover. – Benjamin S.

Kate's wonderful gentle approach to teaching is a blessing.  She adds humor to the classes, which I think reminds us to enjoy the class, yes, its work but its enjoyable work.  Often the class time seems to evaporate so quickly that I am disappointed that we are at the end of the session.   By the end of a class, I love how my mind has stopped all the idle chat, and I can hear peace.  Can you? – Rachel Z.

I have been doing Yoga for nine months.  A brief time compared to the many years of running, walking, aerobics, step classes and strength training.  But what a difference?!  Those other exercises I liked.  Yoga, I love.  My traditional exercise seems limited and boring, whereas Yoga seems limitless. – Kim Marie T.

Downtown Yoga doesn't make you wait.  They simply make you welcome, and make it especially easy to get started with their ongoing drop-in option. – Laura W.
