Resolute Yoga: Practice along with one of our senior teachers. This class is for the student who wants to challenge himself or herself by experiencing the quiet-stillness that comes as a result of holding more challenging poses for longer periods of time. Inversions are an integral part of this practice. Get up and get the day going. This 6:00 a.m. class is a perfect way to stretch and wake up.

Therapeutic Yoga for People with Disabilities: The Therapuetic Yoga for People with Disabilities is specifically designed for people with limited or decreased movement capabilities seeking exercise for various reasons. This very gentle yoga is a series of stretching movements that can help to reduce stress within the body, strengthen endurance and reduce fatigue. It also expands the range of motion and flexibility and improves balance. In addition it reduces muscle spasms, improves bowel and bladder control, enhances energy channels and explores one’s full potential.
Women's Spiritual Group:The Sunday Women's Spiritual Group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each Sunday at Downtown Yoga. The group's intention is to explore and share our experiences with spiritual teachings and praciices, both ancient and modern. Each meeting begins with 20 minutes of meditation, which is followed by a discussion of the book we're currently studying. Previous books the group has read include: Using the Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes, Communion with God by Neale Donald Walsch, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times by Pema Chodron, The Beginner's Guide to Insight Meditation by Arinna Weisman and Jean Smith, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, edited by Chip Hartranft, A Thousand Names for Joy, by Byron Katie with Stephen Mitchell. We focus on sharing how we apply the teachings from these books and the practice of meditation in our everyday lives; members find it's a rich exchange of experience and insight and a wonderful way to start the new week. The group is open to all women. We each give an offering of $5 every Sunday to support the studio For more info contact: jane.murphy1@comcast.net (925) 425-9252 or (408) 398-1098 (cell)
Private Sessions: Kate Coughlin, Director of Downtown Yoga, is available for private, one-on-one consultation and instruction. Many students find that during concentrated one-on-one time they are able to deepen their practice to the next level. Kate has the ability to tailor a sequence of postures specifically to each individual's personal needs. During a one-on-one session the yoga instruction offered will be more personal. Thus, you may find a one-on-one session far more intensely therapeutic than what you would feel during a group class.
Your first 1˝-hour session includes individual assessment and private practice design at a cost of $100. Follow up with one-hour private sessions at $85 per hour. You’re invited to contact Kate by phone at 925.819.9983 or email at asanakate@yahoo.com to schedule a weekday or weekend appointment.
